Finally, summit day arrived. We were up early and out the door before dawn. It took us 4 1/2 hours to make the summit and another 5 to return to the hut. My guide, Thomas Dunnser, was an extremely good climber and guide. He had been guiding for over 25 years and I would be his 125 client on the Matterhorn.
