Trip Write-up

After the success on the Grand, a few years passed before I decided that I wanted to try another climb. While in Jackson Hole, I picked up a re-printed copy of Edward Whymper's Scrambles Amongst the Alps. I had previously visited Zermatt and saw the towering Matterhorn, and Whymper's detailed description of his tragically successful summit attempt of the mountain solidified my desire to try it. In order to try to acclimatize for the climb, I decided to head to Chamonix. This led to the thought of first climbing Mont Blanc before heading to Zermatt. After convincing my co-worker, Andy, to come along, we were on our way.
