Day 3 - July 15

Back

After an aweful climb with some nausea and big winds, finally made it to the crater rim and the summit.

Too exhausted to do much else

Beautiful sunrise on the way down.

Below the Muir hut we were on the snowfield and so we each made our own way down. In several parts there were these "slide" areas where people had just sat down and slid part of the way down. This is one of them.

Finally back at Paradise looking back at the mountain

Lunch on the way back to Seattle (clockwise from the left): Asger and Marie (couple from Denmark), AAI driver, Jordan and Al (son and father from Seattle area), Dylan Cembalski (AAI guide), Nick Mullan (AAI guide), and Lakpa Gelu Sherpa (former speed record holder on Everest at 11+ hours). Not pictured are Lyndsy Roberts and Brian Faw (friends from central Washington).

Mt. Rainier from the SeaTac airport. Seems so close. Little Tahoma is the rock on the left side. Our route took us on the back side and up to the Little Tahoma area before heading up to the summit (all unseen from this view).
